Two prominent members of Governor’s Advisory council and leaders of All progressive congress(APC) in Epe division of Lagos State, chief Lanre Razak, popularly known as KLM, and Alhaji Akanni Seriki, well known as Bamu, on Wednesday January 23, 2019, convened a meeting of all stakeholders in Epe division at Jubilee chalet,Epe; where they urged everyone to put behind them the second term ticket denied the incumbent Governor of the state, who is a good son of Epe. They pleaded that all support should be given to Apc gubernatorial candidate Mr. Babajide Olusola sanwoolu and his deputy Dr. Kadir Obafemi Hamzat and ensure their victory at the next guber poll in the state.
Chief Lanre Razak who is also the Balogun of Epe land, who explained to the gathering that political positions is quite different from what is obtainable in royal setting, where a king rules until his death; but a political office holder only has four years mandate which may either be renewable or not; said four years was what given to Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode by the party. He said party supremacy denied him the second term ticket despite his good performance. He therefore urged all aggrieved individuals or groups in Epe to look beyond present situation, noting that Epe still has a lot to benefit in future from Apc. He appealed to them to support Mr. Babajide Sanwoolu and his deputy Dr. Obafemi Hamzat. He revealed that the total number of registered voters in Lagos State is 6,536,142; out of which Epe has 147,035 registered voters. He said based on this, the party has demanded 92,000 votes from Epe while, the leaders In Epe have promised to deliver up to 120 votes.
“In the interest of this division, let us all shun violence and grievances; mobilize and vote en masse for our gubernatorial candidate Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwoolu and his deputy Dr. Kadir Obafemi Hamzat. You have to honour the decision of all leaders in this division who have been giving support to sanwoolu. Therefore, you should not behave as if there are no leaders in this division who deserve your obedience and support on this particular development” He stated.
Apc apex leader in the division, the Apase of Epe land, Alhaji Akanni Seriki, declared that he was not responsible for the loss of second term ticket of Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, as being speculated in some quarters. He said he was the one that introduced Ambode in Epe and he can never work against him, but the party supremacy is final. He advised that sanwoolu and his deputy deserve their support now in the interest of development of Epe and progress of the party. He admonished that no one should henceforth tear or deface sanwoolu’s posters, urging that they should work tiredlessly for his victory at the poll.
According to the Representative of Epe Federal Constituency in the Federal House of Representatives,Abuja, Honourable Wale Raji, who is seeking re-election for the second term; Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode has done well in the area of revenue generation for the state by building greatly on the foundation laid by Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Mr. Babatunde Raji Fashola, asides other laudable achievements. He expressed optimism that sanwoolu will take it from where Ambode will leave it in may 2019. He said no doubt, Ambode tried but party’s decision is supreme. He advised therefore that all the groups or bases represented at the stakeholders meeting should go back home and enlighten their members and families to make them see reasons why they must vote for Mr. Babajide Sanwoolu, his deputy and all APC candidates in the forthcoming election.
Honourable Abiodun Tobun, a member of Lagos state House of Assembly seeking re- election, talked in line with the previous speakers at the meeting, as he urged everyone to vote for all Apc candidates starting from president Muhammadu Buhari to members of House of Assembly. He noted that doing this will ensure more dividends of democracy for the people and the fight against corruption will be intensified.
Meanwhile, during a press interview, chairman Epe Local Government, Honourable Adedoyin Adesanya has warned all youths and other people in the Local Government to shun all forms of political thuggery and violence, before, during and after the forthcoming elections. He affirmed that a vote for Sanwoolu and Hamzat is a vote for continuity of good governance in the state. He appealed that with Apc in government all basic infrastructural facilities and programmes that will enhance good standard of living will be made available for the citizenry.

Oniga Kazeem; APC, LGA Chairman, Otunba Kehinde Adeniyi; S.A to Dr. Obafemi Hmazat, Mr. shittu Hakeem; religious leaders, among others.
