Super Eagles have booked a spot in the semifinals of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations following their 2-1 win over South Africa national team on Wednesday night.
Super Eagles took the lead in the 27 minutes when Ahmed Musa’s low pass found Alex Iwobi whose cross landed on unmarked 20 year-old Samuel Chukwueze foot before taken on two defenders inside their own 18 yard box and unleashed his low shot that beat South African goalkeeper.
Bongani Zungu scored what was first considered as a controversial offside goal until the Moroccan referee consulted the newly introduced Video Assistant Referee which validate the equaliser on the 72nd minute of football match.
Substitute Moses Simon’s corner kick was well connected by Troost Ekong who tapped in to give Super Eagles the lead for the second time in the game at injury time which see the match end in 2-1 in favour of the Super Eagles
This see Nigeria progress to semifinal of the tournament and facing winner between Ivory Coast and Algeria in Semifinals of the 2019 AFCON.
