A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta, Olorogun Ovoke Oshasha at the weekend survived an attack when gunmen shot him at Ughelli Town, Ughelli North LGA.

It was learnt the victim was driving in the metropolis at about 4.30 pm when he was shot at by the gunmen.

The Nation gathered there was pandemonium in the vicinity after the gunmen, who drove in a Highlander SUV, opened fire on him.

A source said Oshasha sustained gun injuries on his chest, adding he was rushed to a nearby hospital for medical attention.

Oshasha, who is receiving treatment in an undisclosed hospital, said he noticed the sky blue Toyota Highlander SUV trailing him from Afiesere Road.

He said he was going to pick up invitation cards from a printing press in Oniemo, adding as he was pulling over at the printing when the gunmen overtook him.

Sensing danger, he said he immediately engaged his car into reverse, adding the gunmen shot at him with Ak47 rifles.

He said he was stuck after he was hit by bullets on his chest, adding the hoodlums thinking that he was dead, took his phones, hand chain, beads and zoomed off.

He urged the police and other security agencies to fish out the gunmen.

Delta Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, DSP Bright Edafe confirmed the incident.

He added the matter was being investigated.
