Kisii County Deputy Governor Robert Monda has been impeached by the county assembly, with 53 MCAs out of 70 voting for his ouster.

One MCA abstained from voting, while 13 others opposed his dismissal.

Monda came under fire after allegations surfaced that he accepted a bribe to assist a resident in obtaining a job with GWASCO Water Company.

He was also accused of abuse of office, which he denied when he appeared before the county.

Last week, while speaking to the media, Monda distanced himself from corruption allegations, claiming that an impeachment motion before the Kisii County Assembly would fail.

“I have never been accused of corruption in my life. It is only this time that it is coming in my history. I have sufficient answers and it is the responsibility of the holders of this motion to ensure they have a case to prosecute,” said the DG.
