BREAKING: Ekiti Speaker, Afuye Is Dead
The Speaker of Ekiti State House of Assembly in South-West Nigeria, Funminiyi Afuye is dead.
Afuye who hailed from Ikere-Ekiti in Ekiti South Senatorial District died at the age of 66 after suffering Cardiac arrest on Wednesday.
He died at the Ekiti State Teaching Hospital (EKSUTH), Ado- Ekiti. His death was announced by the Ekiti State Government.
Afuye, before his demise, represented Ikere constituency 1.
A statement issued by Yinka Oyebode, Chief Press Secretary to Governor Biodun Oyebanji said the Government of Ekiti State regretted to announce the death of the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Funminiyi Afuye.
“Rt. Hon Afuye died Wednesday evening at the Ekiti State Teaching Hospital (EKSUTH), Ado- Ekiti, where he was receiving treatment after suffering a cardiac arrest,” the government said.
The late Afuye, 66, was a former Commissioner, Ekiti State Ministry of Information and two- time member of the State Assembly.
He was inaugurated Speaker of the sixth Assembly on June 6, 2019.
