Abba Kyari May Return To Work As Police Officer Despite Drug Link – Adegboruwa

An activist lawyer, Ebun-Olu Adegboruwa (SAN), on Wednesday stated that he would not be surprised if the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) reabsorbs the suspended Deputy Commissioner of Police, Abba Kyari.

According to Adegboruwa, the extradition request by the US might be swept under the carpet despite the indictment by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) linking him with an international drug cartel.

The senior lawyer while referring to the recommendation of the police to the Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, said the force had plans to reabsorb him because he is in the good book of some people in power.

Adegboruwa made the claims while speaking on Channels TV’s Sunrise Daily on Wednesday.

He said, “For the event that that happened on Monday through the NDLEA, I am just sure that one day we will just wake up and see that Mr Kyari would have been reabsorbed into the Nigerian Police Force.

“With all due respect, I think that was what Mr IGP was working towards because if you look at the events, it would seem that the super cop was in the good books of those in power.

“If you are suspended effectively from an organisation and someone else called to replace you [in Kyari’s case, Tunde Disu], how do you have the capacity to still mobilise serving officers of the same unit; mobilise them to go as far as Enugu while on suspension?”

He warned that reabsorbing Kyari into the police structure will dampen the morale of serving police officers.
