APC Crises: Ruling Party Finally Postpone National Convention, Announces New Date

Ruling party, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has settled for a shift in date of its national convention following President Muhammadu Buhari’s approval.

Trixx NG learnt the shift in date was to resolve many issues rocking the party including that of zoning and skirmishes in some state chapters.

Reports also said that the ruling party has not yet printed expression of interest and nomination forms for various categories of aspirants and could not commence the sale of forms last Monday, in line with its earlier released schedule of activities for the convention.

The Caretaker Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee, CECPC, chaired by the Yobe State Governor, Mai Bala Buni, met and took a decision to postpone the party’s national convention, which was earlier scheduled to hold this Saturday, DAILY POST reports.

The committee decided on a two-week shift, a development that may not have gone down well with other stakeholders of the party, most of whom are agitating that the convention should hold on February 26 as earlier scheduled.

The convention is expected to elect a new crop of NWC members that would replace the Governor Mai Mala Buni-led Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee which was inaugurated on June 25, 2020 following the dissolution of the Adams Oshiomhole-led NWC.
