APC Is Delaying Development In Imo North Senatorial District

For almost two years now, Imo north senatorial district has been left without a representative in the national assembly after Senator Benjamin Uwajumogu who was representing the district died in 2019.

All efforts to replace the representative of the senatorial district in the national assembly has proven abortive. First of all, INEC organize a bye-election but it was marred by violence and had to be cancelled till December 5 when another one held.

After  the next election, INEC declared All progressive congress as the winner of the election but couldn’t return any candidate because two court rulings had sacked the two candidates of the party some hours to the election, which means the APC went into the election with no candidate.

Normally, the next party with the highest vote which is PDP and its candidate, Emmanuel Okewulonu should be given the victory but the All progressive congress went to the court to fight the cases before them.

One of them, Ifeanyi Ararume lost his case, and the other candidate, Frank Ibezim also lost his, the first was sacked because he didn’t participate in the party primaries while Frank Ibezim was disqualified for forging his certificate.

After this, another round of court cases began at the supreme court on who was the authentic candidate of the party and the outcome was the Frank Ibezim is the right party candidate. After the supreme court ruling, another court case began at the appeal court by Frank Ibezim to quash the case of his forged certificate but unfortunately, He lost.

After this, Frank Ibezim wants to proceed to the supreme court again on this forgery case, also Ifeanyi Ararume wants to proceed with another court case again.

Unfortunately, PDP Can’t join this case because it’s an internal party case of the APC, and the only way the PDP can have a case is by going to the Tribunal, this has been done, and a positive development is happening.

With all this, its evident that APC has stalled the progress of Imo North senatorial district because for two years, nothing has happened there, no bill has favoured the people because their seat is vacant.

The best decision that can happen now is for PDP to be declared winner of the election since the APC candidate isn’t qualified.
