Between PDP And APC, Who Will Get Justice At Imo North Senatorial Election Tribunal?

Although the Imo north senatorial election held on December 5, 2020 yet there are issues that still surrounds that zone due to parties fighting for justice in the election.

INEC declared the APC as the winner of the election even though the party went into the election with no candidate because the two people parading themselves as the party’s candidate, Frank Ibezim and Ifeanyi Ararume were sacked by different court judgments and this made it impossible for the INEC to return any candidate as winner of the election despite the fact that the party won.

Even as the party won the highest votes, every other party’s candidates accused the APC of election fraud because they all contested against two APC candidates which is totally unconstitutional.

After the election, it took months before the Supreme Court could decide on who will benefit the votes of the APC in the election. At the end of the day, Frank Ibezim was announced as the candidate of the party.

Now that the in-house battle is over, the APC is left with the election tribunal case which was filed by the PDP and its candidate, Emmanuel Okewulonu to decide if the APC actually had a candidate as at the time the election held.

According to information, the APC had no candidate name on the ballot during the election, only the party’s name was there and in the Nigerian constitution, a party must have a candidate to be eligible to participate in any election.

The election tribunal will be sitting this week, and the decision will determine a lot of things especially in Imo politics, who will get the deserved justice between the PDP and APC?
