BREAKING! African Prime Minister Resigns From Government

Prime Minister of the Central African Republic (CAR), Firmin Ngrebada, has announced his resignation from government.

Mr Ngrebada disclosed the decision in a tweet on Thursday.

In the tweet, he stated that he had “presented (his) resignation to the president,” Faustin Archange Touadera.

Responding to the news, presidential spokesman, Albert Yaloke Mokpeme told AFP that despite the resignation, he may still be asked to stay and forma new government.

Mr Mokpeme said: “We will know within a few hours if the president keeps the prime minister on.”

The country which is still leaking its wounds from the civil conflict it experienced in the country in 2013.

The president, Touadera, in December, got re-elected in a voting exercise characterised by widespread insecurity by rebels with security forces in the country trying to restore peace in the country.
