CBAAC DG speaks on ‘Empowering Her By Building Arts and Culture Through Technology’ in Rwanda

Director-General, Centre for Black African Arts and Civilization (CBAAC), Hon. Olubunmi Amao has told African woman and girl to to strive to rise above cultural practices and gender dictates that has impaired her ability to attain her desired goals in life.
The DG urged them to see themselves as more worthy, valuable, and focused on re-developing herself to confirm to the dictates of 21st century.
She stated this at the International Women’s Day Conference titled Empower Her By Building Arts and Culture Through Technology, organised by Duchess International Magazine in Kigali, Rwanda.
According to her, Women in Arts and Culture sector of the economy need to build networks with focus on ‘Women support Women’ so as to grow their arts and culture businesses as well as initiate capacity-building activities that empower young and emerging Women artists.
Amao also charged women to do away with unnecessary rivalry and envy, expressing sadness that most women prefer to choose men over their fellow women to attain leadership positions.
“It starts with the mindset; The African woman/ girl should view herself as more worthy, valuable and focused on re-developing herself to conform to the dictates of 21st century.
“She should strive to rise above cultural practices and gender dictates that has impaired her ability to attain her desired goals in life. The mindset is an important agent to change her world.
“Women in Arts and Culture sector of the economy need to build networks with focus on ‘Women support Women’ so as to grow their arts and culture businesses as well as initiate capacity-building activities that empower young and emerging Women artists.
“Women need to do away with unnecessary rivalry and envy. It is sad that most women prefer to choose men over their fellow women to attain leadership positions.” She said.
