CHINEDU OKERE J (FCA): A TRAILBLAZER IN NIGERIAN BREWING INDUSTRY
In the dynamic landscape of Nigeria’s brewing industry, Chinedu Okere J stands out as a beacon of strategic planning, financial acumen, and operational excellence. With a distinguished academic background in Accounting from the University of Calabar, coupled with his extensive professional credentials, Chinedu has left an indelible mark on the organizations he has served, notably Nigerian Breweries Plc.
Chinedu’s journey into the world of brewing commenced at Nigerian Breweries Plc, where he dedicated nearly a decade of his career, demonstrating an unwavering commitment to excellence and innovation. His tenure at Nigerian Breweries saw him assume pivotal roles, each marked by remarkable achievements and transformative impact.
As the National Planning Manager from April 2013 to November 2016, Chinedu orchestrated the seamless merger of planning functions between Consolidated Breweries and Nigerian Breweries. This consolidation not only streamlined operations but also fostered a robust planning department capable of navigating the complexities and volatilities inherent in Nigeria’s business environment. Under his leadership, transparency became the cornerstone of planning operations, ensuring stakeholders were equipped with comprehensive insights into all facets of operations.
Moreover, Chinedu’s adept management skills were evident as he successfully supervised a team of six associates directly and influenced ten others indirectly. He revolutionized staff training within the Logistics division, introducing innovative measurement tools to gauge and enhance staff knowledge levels effectively.
Transitioning to the role of Brewery Financial Controller from February 2011 to March 2013, Chinedu spearheaded the amalgamation of the Brewery Controller and Brewery Finance Manager roles, resulting in significant cost savings. His initiatives in optimizing procurement processes and bolstering inventory management underscored his commitment to fiscal prudence and operational efficiency.
During his tenure as the Business Unit Controller from August 2007 to January 2011, Chinedu blazed trails as the pioneer controller for the North region. His adept management ensured a seamless transition of customer balances and details onto SAP Heicore, while his efforts in educating customers and sales executives enhanced transparency and trust in financial transactions.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Chinedu’s commitment to continuous learning is evidenced by his participation in prestigious programs such as the Africa and Middle East Leadership Development Programme in Amsterdam and the Heineken International Management Development Course.
