Emefiele Joins Twitter, Speaks On ‘Purchase Of 3 Jets For 2023 Presidential Campaign’
The Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele has denied reports that he purchased 3 ‘aircrafts’ for his rumoured 2023 Presidential Campaign.
A report had gone viral on Wednesday that Emefiele bought 3 airplanes for his presidential campaign and had been asked to resign from his position as governor.
The report also stated that Emefiele has allocated about N500 billion for his presidential ambition, leveraging his edge as the manager of the country’s most critical financial institution.
The report further stated that a cabal led by the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF), Abubakar Malami, was strongly behind the push for Emefiele to succeed Buhari, ahead of other strong contenders in the party.
The CBN governor, however, opened a new Twitter account, denied the claim on Wednesday.
“Fake news,” he tweeted in response to the report
The development is coming a few days after the CBN governor addressed calls for him to contest. Speaking to a group known as ‘Friends of Godwin Emefiele’, he disclosed that his fate was in ‘God’s hands’.
