GOtv Boxing Night 24 Brings Back Female Boxers

An extra bout has beended to GOtv Boxing Night 24 fight line-up, moving the number of bouts from six to seven. This was disclosed on Thursday in Lagos by the organisers, Flykite Productions.

The additional bout, according to a statement by Flykite Productions, will be a female super flyweight clash between Haminat Yekini and Blessing Bukola. The organisers explained that the inclusion of the female bout is in response to the clamour of boxing fans, who have always wanted to see top class female boxers in action.

GOtv Boxing Night 24, which holds on 24 December at the Molade Okoya Indoor Sports Hall of Teslim Balogun Stadium in Lagos, will host the World Boxing Federation (WBF) International title defence between the incumbent champion, Nigeria’s Rilwan “Baby Face” Babatunde and Justice “Qwick Action” of Ghana.

The event, which will be graced by live musical performance by hot music act, Jamopyper, will feature two other title bouts. Abiodun “Infiniti” Afinni will take on Michael “Emirate” Godwin for the national cruiserweight title, while David “Awosika” Cosmos will take on Segun “Success” Olanrewaju for the national light heavyweight title. Cosmos is a replacement for Adewale “Masevex” Masebinu, who pulled out of the fight for personal reasons.

The welterweight category will feature two clashes. One will be between Semiu “Jagaban” Olapade and Taiwo “Gentle Boy” Olowu, while the other pairs Willian “Kaki” Amosu with Segun “War” Adeyemi.

In the bantamweight category, Saheed “Eagle” Azeez and Aminu “Lucky Boy” Akintayo will go head-to-head. The best boxer at the event will go home with a cash prize of N1million and the Mojisola Ogunsanya Ogunsanya Memorial Trophy.
