Many who are privileged to have experienced the Midas touch of Dr. Agbu Kefas, the governor-elect of Taraba state, would bear witness that He is truly a different type of politician.

Politicians, especially those newly elected to positions, are known to appoint their aides and commissioners from their political parties, states, or region. This is a common practice among Nigerian politicians and has been seen as the norm.

However, the governor-elect of Taraba state, Dr. Agbu Kefas is going in a different direction with the formation of his cabinet members. Instead of considering indigenes of Taraba state alone for all his appointments, Dr. Agbu Kefas has spread his tentacles nationwide to shop for people who have proven records in turning things around to also occupy some positions alongside indigenes of Taraba.

Dr. Agbu Kefas has promised to focus on health, education, women and youth empowerment, job creation, security, peace, and unity. He understands how important these are to the people of Taraba state and has expressed his commitment to delivery even if it entails bringing in people from other states for the sake of Taraba state.

An interesting aspect of his appointments when they are announced is other political parties will be included. It has never happened in the history of Nigerian politics that a politician appoints an opposition to his administration. Dr. Agbu Kefas will be setting a huge record not for personal glorification but for the progress of Taraba state.

In all these appointments, Dr. Agbu Kefas will also allow stakeholders, professionals,  and elders of Taraba state to recommend efficient Tarabans for top positions in his administration, unlike the normal Nigerian politics where governors decide all without carrying relevant stakeholders and elders along in their government

Dr. Agbu Kefas’ actions have shown his passion, dedication, commitment, and love for the people of Taraba state. He has also unconsciously changed the direction of the political system in Nigeria.
