In Nigeria today, hardly would you see anyone that doesn’t use the phrase ‘Lori Iro’ especially when someone talks about loving an opposite sex. This phrase went viral last week after a video of an evangelist who normally preach against fake love surfaced.

In this video, the evangelist was singing ‘Lori Iro’ while preaching against telling lies to have and keep a relationship.

This man by name, Ismail Gbadamosi became popular instantly and has enjoyed massive followership on the social media.

In an interview with PUNCH, he gave a background of how he started using that style to preach

“I’ve been doing ‘Lori Iro’ for more than five, six years. People used to gather around me to dance to the song whenever I go out to preach. The content of my evangelism is on fake love. You are my chewing gum, you are my Tomato, you are my biscuit, those are fake loves, lips of deceit,” the convert said.

The preacher said he was not aware that Valentine’s Day was approaching but an unknown onlooker recorded the video and uploaded it online.

Shortly after the video surfaced online, it became popular with people repeating ‘lori iro (based on lies)’, a phrase he used in the video.

“It is God that brought it to that time. I had got a dream that one day I will be celebrated but I didn’t know the time. It is God’s season. I don’t even know the person who recorded the video,” he said.

Gbadamosi, who now has social media presence with modest followings, added that he will make ample use of technology to preach the gospel.
