JUST IN: Nigerian Sprinter Blessing Okagbare Reacts To Career Ending 10-Year Ban For Doping
Nigerian sprinter Blessing Okagbare has reacted to her 10-year ban by the disciplinary tribunal of the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) for doping on Friday.
The 33-year-old was handed the ban on the eve of her semifinal in the 100m event at the Tokyo Olympics.
“Five years for the presence and use of multiple prohibited substances and five years for her refusal to co-operate with the AIU’s investigation into her case.” read an AIU statement.
According to the AIU, it charged Okagbare after she tested positive for Human Growth Hormone and Recombinant Erythropoietin (EPO).
Reacting, in a post via her official Twitter account on Friday night, Okagbare revealed her lawyers her currently studying it for the next line of action
“My attention has been drawn to the statement issued by the AIU regarding its disciplinary panel decision. My lawyers are currently studying it for our next line of action which we will inform you soon,” she tweeted.
