JUST IN: Tinubu May Drop Shettima As APC Postpones Official Presentation Of Presidential Running Mate
As the 2023 general election gathers steam, the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has postponed the presentation of a former Governor of Borno State, Senator Kashim Shettima, as his substantive running mate to the leadership of the ruling party.
Shettima was expected to be officially unveiled 1.00 pm at the APC secretariat in Abuja, today (Thursday), but POLITICS NIGERIA learned that the event has been shelved.
No reason was given for the decision which comes amid controversy over the choice of a Muslim-Muslim ticket by the party.
There are reports that Tinubu and the leadership of the APC may consider dropping Shettima from the race and pick a Northern Christian with one day left to the deadline of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
In the meantime, a new date is expected to be announced later.
