Lagos Police Gives Update On Lady Who Raised False Rape, Kidnap Alarm On Twitter

Lagos State Police Command has given an update on the ‘arrest’ of Toyosi, a lady who raised a false alarm on Twitter.

 

TRIXX NG gathered that Toyosi reported herself to a police station in the Bariga area of Lagos.

 

Toyosi, known as @_misteriouss, had claimed to have been kidnapped and raped in the Akoka area of Lagos State.

 

She also tweeted with the address of where she was being allegedly held and the phone number of the alleged culprit.

 

Swinging into action, some operatives of the Lagos Police arrived at the address Toyosi shared and arrested the occupants of the building.

 

Moments later, Toyosi announce that she was okay and that it was a false alarm.

 

Lagos Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, said Toyosi wasn’t arrested but went to the station herself.

 

He added that interrogation is still ongoing on the case and the next line of action.

 

According to the Nigerian constitution, Toyosi’s fake alert is a punishable offence as contained in section 59 of the criminal code act.

 

She could be jailed for three years for causing unrest by raising false alerts.
