Lekki Toll-Gate Reopening Causes Trouble As Another Massive Protest Looms
Following the re-opening of Lekki Toll-Gate announced yesterday, there has been unrest on the social media scene especially among youths, most of which are against the re-opening of the toll gate.
Recall that some months ago, an ugly incident took place at the Lekki Toll-gate where a peaceful protest was being held by Nigerian youths against police brutality. The Nigerian army allegedly stormed the venue after some time, and this led to the death of some youths.
After the killings, a judicial panel was set up which had some representative of the youths, in order to bring justice to those affected with the incident that happened at the tollgate, however, the nod of the judicial panel to open the toll gate again when justice hasn’t been served has cause lots of reaction.
Most especially on twitter, some of the convener of the #EndSARS protest are being called out for betraying the trust of the Nigerian youths.
With this reopening, if care isn’t taken, another protest might take place because we still have lots of youths who are angry with what the military did, without getting justice.

The Lekki toll gate is literally the govt making money from the suffering of the road users.
I was on that road several times last month and just had to marvel at the difference in the flow of traffic without the gates. #EndSARS

Lekki Toll gate is providing jobs, revenue for Lagosians and there is a legal agreement between Lekki Concession Company Limited and Lagos State government. The toll gate cannot remain closed because of the sentiment of certain people.

I think this Lekki toll reopening & Sega argument is an opportunity to open conversations about how much is left to be repaid to LCC? Who is auditing the amount received?. Can it be made public? Can’t govt pay off (if anything is left) & open the toll in memory of those who died?

It is not up to a year and they want to reopen the Lekki toll?
Cold blooded reptiles.
