‘Noise Reduces Lifespan’ – Lagos Shut Lekki Club, Target Others
Lagos State Government has sealed the popular Prest Club in Lekki for noise pollution.
Commissioner for Environment, Tunji Bello warned bars, clubs and lounges in the State to stop loud music.
The official said apart from locking such places, the owners will be prosecuted according to the dictates of the law.
Bello issued a statement on Sunday after enforcement raids were carried out in Lekki based on residents’ complaints.
He said officers of the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) were sent to Prest Jazz Club on Admiralty Way.
Bello disclosed that when they got there, different giant speakers and musical instruments had been assembled for stage plays, shows and blaring music.
“No one or organisation will be treated as a sacred cow in the latest campaign because research has shown that noise pollution is one of the causative factors for reduced lifespan”, the statement added.
