Some thugs loyal to the governorship candidate of the APC in Taraba, Senator Emmanuel Bwacha have destroyed election materials in Dongo local government area this morning.

Voting materials which include Bimodal Voters Accreditation System (BVAS), and ballot papers, among others, were destroyed in the attack.

Accreditation and voting scheduled to commence at about 8 am were disrupted by hoodlums who attacked polling units spread across the ward.

Though the hoodlums were said to have been repelled by security operatives, the electorates expressing their franchise in today’s governorship and state House of Assembly elections in the ward were frustrated.

Gunshots from the hoodlums, who were heavily armed, rang sporadically in the area to prevent the electorates from coming out to vote.

At the time of filing this report, voting in the 29 polling units of the ward has been put on hold as tension and apprehension have enveloped the area and the council.

Although Dongo local government is the home of Emmanuel Bwacha but there have been confirmed reports that he won’t be getting any reasonable vote in the ward. He has represented the people for years but no significant development has been brought to the district.

Apart from this, the candidate of the PDP, Kefas Agbu has several loyalists in the local government and it seems to be one of his strongholds in Taraba South. In a way to frustrate his strength, thugs were sent to destroy election materials.

It would be recalled that Emmanuel Bwacha was accused of employing thugs to disrupt the election few days ago. No doubt, this has confirmed it.
