Tinubu May Support VP Yemi Osinbajo To Emerge APC Presidential Candidate In 2023

2023 is still about two years to go but the competition for who becomes the next president of Nigeria has started especially within the ruling party, All Progressive Congress (APC).

Apart from some northerners in the party, the south west region of the party have made an unanimous decision to field the national leader of the party, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the presidential candidate. To confirm this, a political group, South West Agenda (SWAGA) was created as a platform under the APC just for Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

As far as south west APC is concerned, Tinubu’s influence can never be overemphasized because he literally singlehandedly pushed the party to where it is today and has several loyalists in south west therefore no politician dares tamper with whatever decision is made in favour of Tinubu in APC. Surprisingly, the vice president of Nigeria, Prof Yemi Osibanjo is being projected by several groups to become a presidential candidate in 2023 under the APC. Although the vice president is yet to accept or deny this but the development looks like a mission impossible yet it keeps getting more visible as the day goes by. Some hours ago, it was published on Vanguard newspapers that a group for the vice president launched in Abuja and Lagos state just to ensure Prof Yemi Osinbajo becomes the next president of Nigeria.

Tinubu to Vice President Yemi Osinbajo is more like father to son, Tinubu’s role in Professor Yemi Osinbajo’s emergence as vice presidential candidate can never be over emphasized therefore, it is impossible for the VP not to have officially denounced the groups projecting him as a presidential candidate if there is nothing fishy about it.

It is no more news that the projected candidacy of Tinubu wasn’t given a good reception by Nigerians, several people have stood against it, and some have warned him against the ambition due to his health. Generally speaking, if Tinubu is to go by the opinion of the public about his presidential ambition, he may not want to proceed with it, though he is yet to officially state his stand on 2023 presidency but VP Osinbajo on the other hand is a very sellable politician who has done excellently well in terms of administration. If Tinubu is not accepted by the masses, VP Yemi Osinbajo definitely has no bad records in the books of Nigerians which makes him have an edge over every other person.

Since a south west agenda is being pushed, if Tinubu considers not vying for the position, one person he can support is Vice President Yemi Osinbajo to become the presidential candidate of the APC since he has been loyal to him.
