Tinubu’s Chances Weakened As APC May Zone Presidential Ticket To North East, Lawan Favoured

TRIXX NG reports that the chances of the national leader of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu to become the presidential flagbearer for the party has been weakened.

This is due to the emergence of Atiku Abubakar as the flagbearer of the PDP yesterday after the party’s national convention that held in Abuja.

Atiku, being a northerner is naturally favoured to get votes from the north and it is a known fact that the major votes in a presidential election comes from the northern part of the country. Considering this, the APC has to pick a person that can match Atiku’s vote in the north and no other zone can do that, except the north. Tinubu is a southerner, though has a wide reach in the northern part of the country but can’t be risked to fly the ticket against a northerner.

Another cogent reason is Atiku is from the north east zone of the country, a part that has not produced a president since the emergence of Nigeria and of course, this will be a huge advantage for him.

As it stands, the APC to be sure of its chances has to zone the presidential ticket to the north east where Atiku came from and on the APC aspirant lists, senate President Ahmed Lawan is the only one from the zone.

With this, the chances of south west aspirants have been weakened.
