23-Yr-Old Man Allegedly Rape, Strangle OAU Graduate In Ogun (Photo)

Operatives of the Ogun Police Command have arrested a 23-year-old man, Ikenna James, for allegedly raping and killing a graduate of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile Ife, Oluwatoshin Adefisayo.

The 29-year-old victim was said to be the suspect’s neighbour in Ogijo, Sagamu Local Government Area of the state.

It was gathered that the suspect, in connivance with his friend, who is now at large, allegedly broke into the deceased’s apartment at night, raped and snuffed life out of her.

The duo reportedly broke into the room through the ceiling and carried out the heinous act while the victim was asleep.

The Police Spokesman, Abimbola Oyeyemi told journalists on Thursday in Abeokuta that the parents and other neighbours of the victim woke up to the sad occurrence in the morning.

According to him, the neighbours invited the local vigilante to the scene, and while at the scene, Ikenna was seen coming down from the ceiling where he had been hiding after the dastardly act.

Oyeyemi said the suspect was quickly apprehended and later handed over to the police from Ogijo Divisional Headquarters.

The DPO Ogijo division, CSP Onatufeh Umoh, led his men to the scene and got the suspect arrested.

He said “On interrogation, Ikenna James whose partner in crime has ran away confessed to the commission of the crime, he also informed the police that they decided to kill the victim after raping her because they discovered that she recognized them.

“Ikenna parents who described his arrest has good radiance to bad rubbish said they are already given up on him as he is the black sheep of the family. They also appealed to authority concerned to ensure that appropriate punishment is awarded to him.”

He quoted the Commissioner of Police, Lanre Bankole, had ordered the immediate transfer of the suspect to homicide section of the state criminal Investigation and Intelligence department for further investigation.

Oyeyemi added that the CP also directed that his accomplice must be hunted for and brought to book.
