7 Feared Dead As Armed Robbers Attack 4 Banks In Edo (Photos)

Some daredevil armed robbers attacked some commercial banks and a police station in Uromi, Esan North East Local Government Area of Edo State on Thursday afternoon.

 

The banks affected include Zenith Bank, Union Bank, Firstbank and UBA.

Six persons including two policemen have been confirmed killed in what is believed to be a coordinated robbery attack on the commercial banks.

It was gathered that large sums running into millions of naira were carted away by the suspected criminals.

According to the spokesman of the Edo State Police Command, Bello Kontongs, the attack led to substantial damages to the affected banks, noting that details about the incident will be communicated later.

He said “Zenith, UBA, First Bank, Union Bank, and the Police Division are confirmed attacked while two police personnel and five civilians lost their lives. For now.

Eyewitness report that the robbers were very co-ordinated in the attack. A Lexus-350 jeep(in silver colour) fully loaded ‘cash’ was sighted heading towards Ubiaza old road in the town.

The sporadic shots by the armed robbers caused panic in the town. The robbers came prepared. People are just running helter-skelter”, another source said.
