The President-elect, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, will return to Nigeria from Paris, France on Sunday, May 21, 2023, eight days to his inauguration as Nigeria’s 16th President.

A source close to the President-elect told LEADERSHIP that Tinubu was set to return home after nine days in Europe where he had gone to seek investors and as well fine-tune his inauguration plans “without unnecessary pressures”.

His plane is expected to land at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja on Sunday.

“Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu, the President elect, will fly to Abuja on sunday, from Paris,” the source stated.

LEADERSHIP recalls that Tinubu left Nigeria on Wednesday, May 10, 2023 for the latest trip, just two weeks after returning from an earlier one-month vacation in France.

A statement from his media office signed by Tunde Rahman had noted that the trip was to enable the President-elect perfect his transition plans with his key aides without undue pressure.

“He will use the opportunity of the trip to finetune the transition plans and programmes, and his policy options with some of his key aides without unnecessary pressures and distractions,” the statement noted.

The statement further noted that in the course of the visit, Tinubu will also meet with investors and other key allies to market investment opportunities in the country as well as his administration’s readiness to create a business-friendly climate through policies and regulations.

“Already, meetings with multi-sectoral actors in Europe’s business community, including manufacturing, agriculture, tech and energy have been lined up.

“Asíwájú Tinubu hopes to convince them of Nigeria’s readiness to do business under his leadership through mutually-beneficial partnerships premised on jobs creation and skills acquisition.

“Reviving the country’s economy forms a major plank of Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda and the meeting is part of his efforts to re-establish Nigeria’s importance in the global economic chain and create empowering opportunities for the country’s huge youth population,” the statement added.
