Drama As Okada Riders Attack Taskforce With Cutlasses In Abuja
Motorcyclists, popularly called okada riders, yesterday, attacked members of the taskforce set up by the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) to clear the Airport Road.
The team made up of officers of the Directorate of Road Traffic Services (DRTS), the police and other agencies, were attacked at Lugbe, a satellite town along the road.
They however, overpowered the attackers and impounded 39 of their motorcycles.
Senior Special Assistant on Monitoring, Inspection and Enforcement to FCT Minister, Ikharo Attah, said the team would continue its task despite the attacks.
Attah disclosed that the defiant riders have continued to violate the traffic rules and regulations along the Airport road and other places where restriction orders still subsist.
