Ex-Ogun Deputy Governor Docked For Stealing, Land Grabbing (Photo)

A former Deputy Governor of Ogun State, Olusegun Adesegun was on Thursday docked at an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court in Lagos State.

 

TRIXX NG learnt the charges against Adesegun are: conspiracy, concealing deeds, forcible entry and forcible possession. He denied all.

He was allegedly docked for being in possession of a Certificate of Occupancy (CO) belonging to Babatunde Oderinde, a retiree.

He allegedly conspired with some persons to steal the CO and property kept with the NDIC, belonging to the retiree. He subsequently took possession of the parcel of land at No 2, Osilaja Street, Opebi- Oregun link road, Lagos, belonging to Oderinde.

Adesegun was said to have committed the offence of stealing and land grabbing between 2003 and 2017 at the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Cooperation office (NDIC), Lagos.

 

If convicted, Adesegun risks a two-year jail term.

 

Today at the court, Magistrate M.O. Tanimola admitted the defendant to bail and adjourned the matter till May 17, May 20 and May 27 for accelerated hearing.

Before serving as Deputy Governor of Ogun State between (2011-2015), Adesegun was Commissioner for Works and Housing in the state (twice).
