Injustice In Okigwe Zone Election Tribunal May Lead To Another Imo Crisis

The long awaited election tribunal of the Imo north senatorial election that took place on December 5 2020 will be sitting today to make a crucial decision between the APC and PDP.

The PDP and its candidate, Emmanuel Okewulonu filed the case at the tribunal following their notion that the APC didn’t have any candidate as at the time the election held which is indeed against the conduct of elections in Nigeria.

This argument is because two court judgment sacked the two people, Frank Ibezim and Ifeanyi Ararume parading themselves as the candidate of the APC 24 hours before the election due to the fact that the former had certificate issue and the later didn’t win the election primaries.

This has been solved by the Supreme Court and Frank Ibezim has been recognized as the candidate of the APC in the primaries but that is not the case in the tribunal. The case is to determine if APC had a candidate in that election.

As it is known, since Hope Uzodinma emerged as the governor of Imo state, there has been crisis in the state and most people blame this on injustice. A popular prophet, Primate Ayodele also said that the crisis rocking Imo state is because there is so much injustice in the land as the Supreme court was instrumental in making Hope Uzodinma the governor after removing the candidate of the PDP, Emeka Iheodioha, meanwhile Governor Uzodinma came fourth in the election.

Several residents of Imo state have also blamed crisis in the state on injustice by the court of law, here is another opportunity for the judiciary to make things right, will they ignore the call for justice in Okigwe Zone?

The election tribunal judgment will determine lot of things in Okigwe zone and there is need for the judges to follow the ethics of their job by maintaining integrity and truth for justice to prevail in Imo north senatorial district.

As it is now, there is tension in that zone already and if justice isn’t delivered, this might result into another round of crisis in the state.
