Outrage As Truch Crushes Masquerader To Death In Lagos
A truck laden with plywood yesterday crushed a masquerader to death in the Mushin area of Lagos.
The incident occurred along Isolo Road, around 2:30pm.
The masquerader was said to have died on the spot while two others allegedly passed out.
It gathered that the death of the masquerader annoyed the traditionalists and consequently burnt down the truck. The angry mob also made attempt on the life of the truck driver who was saved by the policemen in the area.
It gathered that the driver allegedly fled to the nearby Area D Command and the mob stormed the police station to demand that he be handed over to them.
The Nation reports that as the crowd became riotous, the police released teargas to disperse them which caused the protesters and other road users to scamper for safety.
People were seen running with their hands covering their nostrils and mouths.
Police spokesman, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the incident but added that it had been brought under control.
